Artist statement
"Night blooming jasmine" was painted at the height of the Italian spring. It is a lyrical, lush, jewel-like painting made on a 4.5 inch deep canvas frame, giving it an intense presence and three-dimensional quality. It is full of detail and dramatic contrast, just like the natural spring environment. The painting is made with an acrylic base and oil/oil pastels on top, with a deep viridian green background.
