Artist Statement
This is a meditative painting inspired by the traditional Mandala. It functions as a sort of modern mandala or meditation aid for the urban mind. Since our mindscapes are different from those that were a century ago, our meditational aids are also different.
The work is from the series titled 'Swimming in the Subconscious'. It is concerned with the state of the urban mind. Executed in the pop surreal style, the works are intuitive, fluid and spontaneous, often referencing imagery that is easily recognisable from its everyday use or cultural context.
