Artist Statement
While constructing this painting I was thinking about the way in which abstract shapes recall actual phenomena. The semi-circular black disc is a recurring motif throughout this body of work, and in this work, it operates as a kind of levelling marker that speaks to the way that ancient tubular water gauges work.
