Very rarely are there moments by the sea that exude a special magic. Not a breath of wind ripples the surface of the water, not even the gentlest wave rolls in from a distance, no ship and no bird move the water. Then the sea becomes a perfect mirror. On the horizon, the sky and its reflection are of the same brightness and color. The sky and the sea merge. An impression of infinite space is created.
The colors were not edited afterwards. I took photos with a 300mm telephoto lens. The section of sea and sky is only about the size of the palm of your hand with an outstretched arm. Again and again I searched the horizon for particularly intense colors. The enlargement creates an effect that every painter is familiar with: every color surface appears brighter, the color saturation increases.
The sun has set behind the photographer some minutes ago. The light of the intense evening red mixes with the blue of the sky to violet. The blue stripe lies in the earth's shadow, which the light of the evening red does not reach.
