Artist Statement
“The core of my interest lies in image-making and image-reading. Still Life is an ongoing series which takes reference from the now-mundane influx of 2D media we come across daily on social media platforms. I re-work combinations of colour, shape and composition from found images into my drawings, paintings and cross-stitchings. The viewer may recognize figures or still life settings, although these are often left ambiguous. It is not my intention to reiterate reality, nor is it to strip the image of its original meaning. Instead, I am attempting to present an alternative reading of it, one without pre-conceived meaning or symbolism to the learned image.”
