Artist Statement

Inspired by the abstract color field paintings of Mark Rothko, I create minimal abstractions from nature with my camera. These are all created in-camera, hand-held using a slow shutter speed, as I move my camera across the horizon to blend and blur all the details to create an impression of the landscape. These function more like a memory of an experience where the individual details are not as vivid as the overall feeling-sense of the moment. These are all produced by hand in my custom studio, in limited editions of five per image no matter the size. They are printed to canvas and hand-coated with a protective coating before stretching on custom-designed stretcher bars and framed in a custom floater frame in either dark walnut or black.
The artwork is framed. The artwork itself is 39.75"x59.75" when stretched to canvas stretcher bars.
The outside dimensions of the frame are 41x61".
