About the art
Artist statement
I am in talks to potentially have shows in Singapore and Hong Kong in 2023 or 2024 with Shout Gallery (depending on when I can complete the required amount of work the gallery wants for 2 locations), and they will be a mix of figurative and floral works with some acrylics dotted in between. That is all on top of a show here in Detroit in April. Busy, busy! That said, I finally found some time to work on this particular style of figurative works. They are the culmination of my experimentations between figurative and landscape/floral, and are a perfect representation of how I see the essence of humanity as it pertains to our limited time here. Ashes to ashes so to speak, and for a few of us who are a bit more empathic to the planet they say more about our link to all that is nature and life.
This work is a powerful representation of masculinity as well as fragility, and harkens my youth as seen through the eyes of our family's youngest generation.
