Stony Blooms in May

Nature is a serious power with a serious formula for success, and in April & May that power is rain! Literally the day after a good storm all of the blooms jump off their stalks and celebrate new life! It feeds my soul to walk amongst such beauty and empowers my paint brush to action.
This work is based off of a section of our land near the river that is wet a good portion of the year and dry the rest (weather and river depending) We leave it predominantly wild and wooded as a sort of habitat for the local wildlife adding only the occasion bit of wildflower seeds. Once the spring rain arrives this area becomes a glorious vision of flowers, vines and wild weeds all coming together as a fresh landscape of life. It feeds the deer, rabbits, bees and butterflies simultaneously, and I am thankful to bear witness to another show of Mother Nature doing her thing.
