Artist Statement
As a child, the crab has been one of my favorite origami subjects to fold. As such, I aimed to create a piece that pushed the boundaries of existing designs. One of the most important goals for this model was to make the anatomy realistic by structuring the legs from underneath the carapace instead of the sides. A second goal was to prop up the body from the ground; this was achieved by successfully accomplishing the first goal and developing a specific pose through shaping.
