Artist Statement

Fauvism is the style of Les Fauves (French for "the wild beasts"), a group of early twentieth-century modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong color over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism. Artist Julia Hacker created this contemporary painting in the style of Fauvism using bold, vibrant colors and a figure of a wild animal. Julia Hacker admires the magic and feline powers of wild nature. The sides of the painting are continuations of the artwork.

Please note: due to its size, this piece will ship from the artist's studio in Canada unstretched and rolled in a tube
