Artist Statement
A muted skyscape based on the tones of raw linen. This extra large work is part of a trilogy collection, exploring this specific palette. The artist believes that low frequency, organic pigments increase feelings of calm and serenity. The composition is pared back for the same reason: to promote clarity of mind and a sense of peace. In contrast to 'Raw Linen Sky', this painting has a higher degree of abstraction.
Most of the brushwork is softly blended. In places, rougher brushwork renders the sense of the fabric more in downward strip fashion. Glazes were built in layers to maintain a sense of lightness and transparency.

Artist Profile
Born: 1970
Hometown: Richmond
Based in: Aquitaine
My training was in Philosophy and art only found me in my later life. I prefer to engage with larger canvases -they give one so much freedom. My painting style tends to fall into two main camps. On the one hand, a nebular, ethereal body of work, which expresses a certain state of almost prayerful devotion. The other is a more design oriented style. I have work in collections all around the world and have been featured in curated collections by Saatchi.
