The artwork is about a beautiful creature - the cat who is capable of much more than you imagine and who plays the piano like a God ... at least it thinks so

Artist Profile

Born: 1977

Hometown: St. Petersburg

Based in: Chengdu, China

I was born in 1977 in Szymanovsk city, Amur region, Russia.

I started drawing before I could walk. My father was an artist and my mother was an art critic.
There were many art albums at home, so as a child I spent hours admiring reproductions
of paintings by Ingres, Renoir, Gauguin and other brilliant artists.

1993- 1996  studied at the Art and Graphics Department of the Blagoveshchensk Teacher Training College.
1996- 2001  studied costume designing at the Amur State University
of the Blagoveshchensk city.

1997- 2004  created costumes and scenery designing for the Blagoveshchensk
Dance Theater "Truakar".

2008 studied at the art-studio "Inspiration" in Shenyang city, China.
2010-2012 specialized in textiles designing in the "Yuda" company in Shenyang.

Since 2012 I have been learning Guohua painting from the artist Zhou Xian Yun
and Chinese calligraphy from calligraphy master Huang Xiao Yong.

After moving to China, I was influenced and fascinated by Chinese culture and philosophy,
many of my art works of that period are dedicated to this.

Oil on canvas is my favorite media. Sometimes I like to use a palette knife so I can express myself with a texture.

I believe that painting gives me the opportunity to describe different sides of myself and also to ask some
questions about existence in this crazy insecure world. I am interested in creating images with no defined
unambiguous interpretation, despite the fact that my artworks are always figurative.
As a painter, I try to work with a color as the main painting tool.
