Artist Statement
Between Heaven & Soil is composed of a combination of 3 Japanese characters.
(Each Japanese character has its own meanings, such as “Heaven” or “Beauty”.)
The upper rows are Heaven, the lower rows are Soil, and all things between heaven and soil are Beauty.

# All lines of this work are left unpainted without the use of white paint, creating an experience of “Kuu” (emptiness or nothingness) in ZEN Buddhism.
Note: Framed size is 80.5 x 70 x 3 cm
