Artist Statement
I grew vegetables in my garden. I study how they grow and develop. Some I bring back to the studio and make portraits. They become individuals when I study them close, no one quite the same as the other. The Garlic shelters its water with a lot of thin layers. It can stay fresh for more than a year underneath those layers. Every species has its own way to keep the water, grew and survive. The information is already there in the little clove I put in the soil before winter comes. From the roots to the top of the straw the water floats constantly. As in ourselves.

Artist Profile
Born: 1959
Hometown: Soedertalje
Based in: Skutskaer
I grew up in a city close to Stockholm, Sweden. In my childhood and teens I was interested in a lot of things. I played my flute for several hours everyday, I went to theaterclasses and I played basketball. Another interest was farming and to grew seed and vegetables. When I was 23 years old I went to to Gaevle artschool where I later became a teacher as well. Since then I have been working with art and for three decades now I have been making artworks in various techniques for exhibitions, public spaces, and projects. Often site-specific with municipalities and regions as customers or artist-driven with colleagues. I work in several materials. On my webiste you will find works in bronse and stone as well as drawings, installations and videoanimations. You will find an installation with over a thousand dried bananapeels. And paintings. Ten years ago I moved to a new place and built my studio where the river meets the sea and the sky. This has influenced my work a lot. Since then I have spent my time in the studio painting. I watch the river, the water constantly flows by. Never the same water again. My art touches and depicts the meeting between the personal, familiar and the great universal cycle we are all part of. The perspective alternates between the individual and the collective. The expression between the aesthetic and the political. I look very close on tiny details or up to the sky above.
