Artist Statement
This work is an abstract painting that incorporates the elements of calligraphy.
If you ask me, "What are you thinking while drawing or painting?"
I would probably say, "Nothing!" In Buddhism practice, it is called 'MEISO.'
It is the practice of just existing with one's mind empty.
However, I feel something when I am in MEISO.
It is almost impossible to explain what 'something' is.
It might be a signal from the center of the cosmic or a distant memory from ancient times.
For me, to draw and paint is to translate the signal or the memory.
So when I create my artworks, I prefer to do it while sensing something rather than thinking logically.
