Artist statement
Hammers and Strings 107d2 is an abstraction of the strings and hammers of a lucite grand piano. In looking into the piano which is in the lounge of my building, I was intrigued by the black tops and white sides of the hammers making a pattern congruent with the strings and the shadows they cast on the piano frame.. Of course the strings had color to them, but I felt the comparison was better without the color to them and I eliminated it.
