Taken during a liminal period of self-reflection and internal confusion, the “Self-Portrait” series examines the topic of identity and authenticity of the self. The series highlights momentary fragments of light and color that warp and manipulate the overall form and expectation of traditional portraiture. “Self-Portrait” guides the viewer to question the various elements that make up their own perception of self: what experiences and factors have influenced their perception of the world and sense of identity? Which elements were driven by an invisible societal push towards conformity? Which factors represent an authentic manifestation of ones own soul?
