Artist Statement
In “Glitches of the Future”, I envision an unsettling future in which humans lose their humanity
as they “merge” with artificial intelligence. I portrayed tech-enabled humans as “jokers”,
ridiculous in their need to be online 24/7. With information fed straight to their brains, it made me
think perhaps they do not need eyes or ears, or a mouth even – in fact, they could be people
without any senses.

Artist Profile
Born: 1974
Hometown: Colombo - Sri Lanka
Based in: Hong Kong
Kos was born in Sri Lanka into an artistic family and began drawing and painting at an early age. After school, his playground was his father's agency workshop, where he studied and practised brush skills in the golden age of hand-drawn advertising. In 1999, he moved to Hong Kong, where he has worked in a creative capacity in the film, advertising, and digital advertising industries.
Kos paints in loud and dominant styles, cheap brushes used to apply dripping oils in crude fast brush strokes, experimental combinations of acrylics and charcoal, tropical colour pallets carried to the extreme. From the inspiration he draws on to his choice of subject matter and the materials he uses, Kos's work is a celebration of diversity in every sense.
