Artist Profile

It is often the memory of a special place that inspires K.W. Stegers to his minimalist paintings. With a photographic eye he observes landscapes and objects, which he then reduces and rearranges to what is essential to him. More recent works have been created without any templates. The themes are colour constellations arranged at angles according to certain previously determined conditions.
K.W. Stegers studied photo design and taught photographic technology at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund, Germany. His photographic documentation of the coal and steel industry of the Ruhr Area was acquired by the Ruhr Museum Foundation in Essen in 2017. Since 2001, he has devoted himself to constructivist painting.
