Artist Statement
This work relates to the feeling of hope following the chaos of the pandemic. Underneath the ethereal subtle hues, there are bold contrasting tones that represent expression of exhaustion, burnout, and a sense of release.

Kyla Balke was born and raised in Thunder Bay Ontario. As a new emerging abstract expressionist utilizing self directed learning she practices using mixed media techniques with an eclectic yet minimalist style. While artistic genes run in the family, Kyla was fortunate enough to develop this strength and has discovered her passion throughout this journey.
Kyla has completed several courses taught by Kasia Krecicka, Joy Kinna, and Celia Lees. Her Work “Up the Tree” has won a Crystal Award in the online exhibition “Abstract” curated by Gallery Ring. She is represented by Laura I Art Gallery in London UK and her recent work “The Grievance” was auctioned in the “Art for Soul” exhibition and online benefit silent auction. In addition, her work has been exhibited in New York, Paris, Luxembourg, Madrid and Toronto.
As a social activist at heart, Kyla aims to drive transcendence through the use of mixed media abstract art.
