Always researching her interests, she does not premeditate a composition. She starts working on a painting and thoughts come to her during and after the work is completed. She absorbs her environment and works from an internal subconscious.

Clarice Lispector, the novelist and painter, opened a new path for Basterra; she made her realize she could find her voice.

Colour for Basterra is an emotional response related to mood with the intention of self-expression. She is fascinated with the egocentric nature and motives of humankind. Through painting, she searches for what it means to be free.
