Artist statement
Lewis’s figurative style of painting with a vivid colour palette and the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated subjects and alienated settings, create intriguing scenes that project a sense of surreal ambiguity and absurdity. Through the blurring of reality with distant memories, Lau hopes to conjure a stimulant for the soul and indulge into what may be to the artist, a sense of tranquility along the fine line between the present and the uncertain future.
