Artist Statement

This work is a part of my 'Mirror of The Mind" series. When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see the real you, or what you have been told and shaped to be and made to believe is you? "Mirror of The Mind" depicts the fog of tensions and uncertainty we experience while building our true awareness of ourselves in the surrounding world. Even if we may know where we want to go and why and what we want to achieve, our path is conflicted, twisted, and blocked with layers of assumptions, uncertainties and unrealistic expectations. When you look at this 'mirror', you may see your own reflection on the acrylic surface of the work, a reflection clouded by the works' abstractions.

This work is created by digitally layering and manipulating several abstract images of distressed surfaces until they combined to create the vision that I had in my mind. The digital outcome is printed with archival quality pigment-based inks on heavy, acid-free watercolor paper, enhanced with pencils. Special edition of 1/5 (significant differences in each work since each is hand finished).

Framed dimensions: 33.5 H x 27.5 W x 2.2 D inches
(unframed artwork dimensions: 30H x 24W inches)
