Artist Statement

Work realized with ink and gouache-acrylic on watercolor paper. It is the memory of a sunset engraved in the aquatic hazards of the ink on a very thick watercolor paper. It is a recycled watercolor paper made by a French craftsman whose quality is incomparable. On these colored traces made with ink, the French artist improvises abstract floral compositions with gouache. The result is a lively, energetic, gestural painting that leads to dreams and meditation.

Linda Clerget is a French artist known worldwide for her abstract and botanical paintings with an emphasis on color. She works to create a personal language based on a solid foundation of French impressionist painting. Evocative and timeless, artist Linda Clerget's energetic paintings speak to our most primal selves - a deep connection that the artist is eager to encourage. Deeply spiritual and intimate, the paintings are more than beautiful landscapes and abstract gestures. They are an integral part of the artist's personal journey and an expression of her search for truth, beauty and meaning in an often chaotic and cruel world.

"In any case, I believe it is a deep motivation and ambition. I think art allows us to show another world, a deeper, timeless world that strikes infinite chords in our minds. Like the shamans, I believe in the idea that our sleep, our intuitions and our creations all reveal strange, fascinating, mysterious things about life and its origins. I don't have a precise definition, and I'm not looking for one. That's why I love to paint: I'm able to reveal that feeling and communicate it subtly to others without them knowing it consciously." Extract from Kate Kelly's interview for the Artpreneur Journal - 2023
