Artist Profile
Born: 1970
Hometown: ROUBAIX
Based in: ST VINCENT SUR GRAON
Born in 1970 in France, Ludovic Mercher is a self-taught painter who lives and works by the Atlantic ocean coast.
After having experimented for ten years with several classic techniques (modeling, black pencils, oil painting), Ludovic Mercher achieved from 2004 the sought-after purity and affirms his particular, resolutely modern approach. He therefore begins to be supported by galleries, as well in France as in Europe.
Ludovic Mercher uses a deliberately stripped palette where red and black dominate. Using various materials such as fiber, metal, rust, paper and ink, he evokes the straight line facing the landscape. On the canvas, a whole human geometry marks our living space, flows of information arise in architecture. As our civilization is constantly redefined by technology, the artist seeks to find balance through the force of the imagination, between matter and spirit.
