Manit Kantasak’s installations of sculptures made from wood, represent figures expressing the organic value of nature in trees asserting a sense of surgical intervention on a body by producing symbolically complex, visually minimalist artistic creations. Each piece is meant to represent both concrete and Buddhist philosophical figures which express the real truth of the nature. Manit has had solo exhibitions at the Red Mill Studio Center in Vermont, USA and at Whitespace Gallery Bangkok. He has won several awards including the Bualuang Award and the Young Artists Award. Outside Thailand Manit’s work has been exhibited in South Korea and China. In 2009 he participated in the Hong Kong International Sculpture Symposium as one of 14 selected artists. Most recently Manit’s work has been shown at Numthong Gallery, Bangkok.
