Artist Statement

Taking a pause from the hustle and bustles of today’s urban mindset, Margarita Cajumban is inspired by a bygone era. This young artist imagines an idyllic Filipiniana world where Hispanic houses, kalesas, traditional markets, and children’s games co-exist. She paints life as she imagined it would have been, or maybe even, can still be. Without the modern trappings, her scenes of minute pointillism details on bright vibrant color fields evoke a certain innocence in youthful optimism and joy.

Cajumban (1994) is from Paete, Laguna.
