The paintings I will share with you is inspired by landscape, nature and the passage of time. We change the nature and in response, it changes us - the connection is very powerful! The titles of my artworks not only include references to the materials used, but they are also a reflection on the theme of fragility of landscapes.
The artwork you will see over the next seven days are inspired by my land and traditions of Sicily. The paper that I use for 'Paper Landscapes' series is a vegetable paper, often used locally to wrap and store bread, the canvas is made of natural cotton and the blue tones of the paintings recall the the nuances of the seascape surrounding Sicily. My artworks are created through a long process of washing the color cotton inside a large tub, leaving it to dry under the sun and then mounting it on a frame to finish it with a brush
