I started working on these as an antithesis to my making figurative images.
My curiosity led me to examine my identity, location and how it is in constant flux. We are presented with things around us, each with varying impact and outcome.
Islands is an initial move away from figuration as a strategy to explore the passage of the objective to the abstract. Abstract to mean here an image of relative anonymity. Which allowed it a variety of interpretations.
Giving it the ability to play various visual roles.
My interest lies in how identities will look
when impacted with these authoring devices and the kind of visual contentions which arise when an element is overwritten with another.
This body of work began in 2009; with the first
series, called, Inconsequential consequences of hope.
brief on narrative>
The ‘present’ is a measure between these two points, where our identity is a result of the intersection.

A Curiosity of how people and things work
led me to making things which allow an examination
of my location by means of stories.
The artwork become my workspace where
I draw up aspects and matters
relating to my address.
The several bodies of work I make;
provide ‘routes for exploration’ to an idea.
