Artist Statement
Unearthed like a found artifact, panels are hand applied with natural clay to create a delicate plaster substrate. This absorbent canvas commands thoughtful consideration with every stroke of sumi ink. Maobi Modern 3 is a reflective nod to a childhood practiced technique of ancient Chinese calligraphy.
