"This Must Have Been a Wonderful Place," serves as a fragmented record of life on Earth, presenting assorted elements that make it such a fascinating, complex, absurd and cherished place. The title of the series, jumps the viewer to the future and encourages them to reflect on the badassery of the Earth and its inhabitants, and the importance of its survival.

In her work, Melissa Arendt is often interested in portraying the visual variety of Earth’s occupants, environments and objects by assembling them together within her clustered art. She has always had a strong compulsion to force disparate visual elements together, thus creating a new whole. Ultimately, her work serves as a fragmented record of life on Earth, presenting assorted components that make it such a fascinating, complex, absurd and cherished place.
Arendt is a California native and studied graphic design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
