“On no subject are our ideas more warped and pitiable than on death. ... Let children walk with nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life, and that the grave has no victory, for it never fights.”
John Muir, A Thousand-Mile Walk to the Gulf

Melissa McGill’s abstract personal landscapes are expressions of colour and texture. Embracing the imperfect beauty of the world around her, Melissa works primarily with acrylic on raw canvas. Spontaneous gestural marks layered over ethereal, colour stained canvas mimic nature through pouring, scraping and mark making.
Melissa worked as an illustrator and designer in NYC before focusing entirely on painting. Her client list included The NBA, Adobe, Sony Music and more. Her paintings and mixed media work can be found in collections around the world and have been featured by Saatchi Art in their catalog. A regular exhibitor at The Other Art Fair, Melissa has shown her work in NY, LA, Dallas and Chicago.
She currently lives in Las Vegas, NV with her husband, their son, an assortment of cats and their Border Collie, Dallas.
