Artist Statement
"Come una volta" means "Like once upon a time" in Italian, the mother language of Monica Maja Richardson. She loves using her Italian for some of the titles of her paintings, probably the ones she feels closer to her heart. And in this one, with so many layers and texture, she feels a presence from the past, a memory of how things used to be in her life when she was still in Rome.
