Artist Statement

Acrylic paint and gloss medium on canvas, stretched and ready to hang with a wire across the back.
Signed on the front and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
This painting is from a collection I am currently working on called “Musical Manuscripts”. Each piece is influenced by a particular song. It expresses on canvas, through colour and movement the emotion behind a song’s lyrics and notes.
This painting is inspired by the Christina Perri song A Thousand Years which is one of my favourites. I love the depths of emotion expressed in this song with lyrics such as “I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more” and “ I have died everyday, waiting for you”. I set out to portray those feelings on canvas by using soft colours that flowed in to each other. I used the circle as a universal symbol of love and union and I added the silver and gold colours to symbolise precious metals. My intention for this painting is that it stands as a statement of the enduring strength and beauty of love.
It has layers of paint and texture. The paint is mixed with gloss medium which gives the painting a soft sheen. The sides of the canvas are painted in white. It is made from professional quality artists canvas and paints. It is registered in the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists as proof of provenance, registration number supplied. It is currently on display in a corporate setting in the city of Melbourne, Australia.

Myra likes to work intuitively, enjoying the interplay of different textures and colours on the canvas.
