Artist Statement
Rain on Brown Earth by Myra Carter is an acrylic abstract on stretched canvas with a wire across the back, ready to hang. The inspiration for the painting was to capture the feeling of welcome rain after a dry period in the Australian outback when the rain makes small puddles and reflects the light. This painting has many layers of paint and uses different techniques in applying the paint. The result is a painting that uses the brown colours of the earth along with highlights of silver and black which reflect the light. The painting has a light sheen and the sides are painted black. The restrained colour palette makes it a painting that will be at home in many interiors. It’s texture and the way the light plays across the canvas continually adds another point of interest. It comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. It is recorded in the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists as proof of provenance. Registration number supplied.
