Artist Statement
Inspired by the Warholian concept of “The Factory” - a place of work - this still life is a homage to the evolution of the artistic process and its production. Laced with irony, surrealism and elements that draw reference from the past and the present, “The Vogue Paintings” takes you on a candid journey in a series of photography still life produced in collaboration with interdisciplinary artist Eduardo Enrique’s pre-existing artwork in response to the question. - “What is a Fashion Painting?”

Natsuko Teruya grew up in a rich multicultural environment that fostered her passion for photography at an early age. After studying visual arts with an emphasis on photography in her teenage years, Teruya relocated to Los Angeles and then New York before moving back to Singapore to pursue her formal studies in Fashion Media at Goldsmiths, University of London in Lasalle College of the Arts.
Through multiple genres of photography in fashion, nude, portraiture and still life, Teruya explores themes of femininity and beauty. Her work is notable for its unique aesthetic with an offbeat composition, clever symbolism, and is nuanced with emotional tension.
Teruya’s photographs have been featured in L’Officiel Singapore, Vogue Japan, Vogue Singapore, and GQ Japan, among others. Her recent commercial clients include LVMH, Swarovski, and KOSÉ.
