Lost and Found was inspired by the walks I take around the local beauty spots. Back in the studio when I paint, I use the views from the walk as a starting point, I recollect where I have been, how it made me feel and my paintings take on the space that is between the reality and my daydreams. I hope the viewer can get absorbed into the depth of the paintings and draw their own emotions from the piece This will look great in a modern interior. A large statement piece.
Based in: London
I have enjoyed a long and successful career as a graphic designer, but have always had a passion for art and image making. My creative process spans both disciplines and, alongside my digital work, I now paint abstract landscapes.
My approach to painting echoes the principles of successful graphics – visual storytelling through symmetry, colour, balance, and the spaces in between. I create abstract paintings based on the landscape around me. Painting in oils, I layer and blend various shapes of colours to recreate an emotional response to the starting image of a place I have been. I love the push and pull of oil paints and the process of an image evolving on the canvas. Sometimes the outcome is expected. Other times it’s not.
Alongside my paintings, I create complementary digital prints that are at once a reflection of the original piece – and a new perspective on it. After photographing a section of a finished painting, I reimagine the work in Photoshop; blending, blurring and rebalancing to create a run of limited-edition prints.
