About

Although having an inclination to be inspired by nature and botanicals, I certainly have departed from trying to be purely representational. I found my most true and liberated self in exploring the beauty of ambiguity. So that my art is open to interpretation, which encourages viewers to imagine, question or think. I embrace the flow of motion that comes instinctively and the layering that is systematic and careful. It's important for me to retain the spontaneous quality while having the composition premeditated. I would like to evoke the noir mood of melancholy, strength, opulence and nostalgia in my painting. At the core, I am more interested in the experiential aspects of feelings and processes. I employ several different techniques to achieve the visual effects that I like, atmospheric use of contrasting light and dark, fluid thread of colors, transparency and wispy brush marks.

Artist Profile

Born: 1989

Hometown: Indonesia

Based in: United States

I found my most true and liberated self in exploring the beauty of ambiguity. I like to capture the essence and subtle elements of the natural world, water, air, particles, energy, and space.

I view art as a therapeutic way for me to go to an imaginary land where I can set expressions free and let go of my subconscious through tactile movements and the fascinating play of color, texture, and natural chemistry that happen between mediums. I embrace the flow of motion that comes instinctually, often fast, and the layering process that is delicate and careful. it's important for me to retain the spontaneous quality. I want to evoke the noir mood of melancholy, strength, opulence, and nostalgia in my paintings.

At the core, I am more interested in the sensorial and experiential aspects of feelings and processes. It is a collaborative event of constructing my vision and letting go of inhibition in the pursuit of balance and harmony. Adding my own markings and oriental elements is something that's embedded in my identity. I employ several different techniques to achieve the visual effects that I like, atmospheric use of contrasting light and dark, transparency, fluid thread of colors, and line work. I like to work with mostly acrylic, pastel, and enamel.
