Odelia Tang (b. 1993, Singapore) is an Artist and 2018 graduate from LASALLE College of the Arts, with a Bachelor’s (hons) Degree in Fine Arts.
Tang’s art and research practice negotiates several varieties of themes including pain negotiation, the unconscious, identity, and the abyss. Through figurative painting, drawing and installation, she reacts to her feelings and findings to form a bigger enquiry about modern society, identity and the psyche.
Her works have been exhibited at PHUNK (2014), Art Seasons (2015), Mulan Gallery (2016), The Private Museum (2017), Lasalle ICA, Gillman Barracks, Coda Culture (2018), Stanford Art Centre and Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, Nanjing (2019) which were features on Intersections.sg, The Straits Times,Channel News Asia, Telegraph Uk, Zaobao, Angloino, Arthop, ArtRabbit and Plural Art Mag.
In 2015, after graduating from Temasek Polytechnic where she studied visual communication and illustration, Tang first formally pursued her interest in fine arts - through NOISE: TAP, a youth mentorship programme under the National Arts Council Singapore, where her work was also showcased in its open category in subsequent years. She has been under several art mentorships including the PHUNK: Transmission Apprenticeship (2014), and the Young Printmaker’s League (2016) before subsequently pursuing a Bachelor’s (hons) in Fine Arts at Lasalle.
