Olga Bezanson is an emerging artist working with fiber and textile. Her soft sculptures are made of rope and thread. These incredibly tactile materials underline impermanence of works, their vulnerability and sensibility - the same topics the artist raises and explores through her art. Materials such as fiber and textile are associated with softness, inconstancy and warmth (while sculpture, in the traditional sense of the word, is something cold, solid and permanent). In Olga’s work, soft materials play an important role. They serve her as a means of expressing her feelings and emotions more fully as these materials possess human qualities mentioned above.
Olga weaves her artworks, monotonously repeating one single type of knot countless times. It’s a very meditative and slow process. Artist’s unique perspective is formed by her propensity for self-reflection. Minimalistic and expressive, calm and dramatic - her works are full of contradictions she finds in herself.

Based in: Barcelona
Born in Belarus in 1990, artist Olga Bezanson lives and works in Barcelona. Originally studying architecture in Lithuania, she moved to Spain in 2014 to get her master’s at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB). Inspired by a rich textile heritage of Catalonia and creative spirit of the region, Olga decided to stay in Barcelona and try her hand at fiber art. Starting with a flat tapestry, she soon moved on to volumes and fiber sculptures. Today Olga’s work is a combination of old textile practices with their new reading.
