Artist Statement
Millions of years ago, today's New Zealand separated from the supercontinent Gondwana. Since then, a flora and fauna that is independent of external ecosystems has been able to develop in New Zealand. Today, the country on the edge of the world inspires with its wild coasts, endless land, huge primeval forests, glaciers and volcanoes and a mostly endemic flora. The Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Forest is one of the last prehistoric rainforests in the world. The Urewera National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the largest rainforest area.
