Representation of a space of proliferating greenery. Bright colors, marked shades of green, Olivia Babel creates a space made up of different levels, masses and volumes. A natural and prolific space is presented.
Cartography, textiles, embroidery... Olivia Babel develops a universe imbued with unexpected associations, so as to create impactful, unique works that catch the eye.
The work is entirely embroidered by hand with lockstitch techniques, on cotton fabrics printed in relief manually and with the screen printing technique. We have the combination of hand-printed fabrics, cotton and wool yarns and 3D gel under plexiglass.

After studying at the prestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts of Lyon, France, Olivia Babel made a specialization in Fiber Art at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-arts of Angers, France.
Specialized in fiber art, she is interested about concepts of territory and cartography.
Olivia Babel also represents territories in all them forms (fertile, arid, stripped by the time...) in order to question our relation to environment. She wants to highlight forgotten territories and to show cartography in an other way.
She is french and has differents origins around the world (France, Portugal, Brazil, Senegal, West Indies...). Because of that, she is open-minded. She shows her vision of the world fed by her origins, travels and cultures.
To create her artworks, she uses a traditional french savoir-faire and wants to highlight handmade work. All her pieces are handmade in her workshop in France.
