Representation of a desert territory, arid and in relief, with a lot of shades and colored tints on a sparkling ocher surface. Here, Olivia Babel has fun creating a desert space, made up of solids and emptiness, relief and flatness. A utopian and atypical "no man's land" is presented.
Plant inspiration, textiles, printing... Olivia Babel likes to create unexpected associations, so as to create impactful, unique works that catch the eye.
The work is entirely hand-embroidered using lockstitch and stem stitch techniques. The fabric is printed by hand with the technique of screen printing and is under plexiglass.
Unique, rare and exclusive piece.
100 hours of work.

Specialized in fiber art, she is interested about concepts of territory and cartography.
Olivia Babel also represents territories in all them forms (fertile, arid, stripped by the time...) in order to question our relation to environment. She wants to highlight forgotten territories and to show cartography in an other way.
She is french and has differents origins around the world (France, Portugal, Brazil, Senegal, West Indies...). Because of that, she is open-minded. She shows her vision of the world fed by her origins, travels and cultures.
To create her artworks, she uses a traditional french savoir-faire and wants to highlight handmade work. All her pieces are handmade in her workshop in France.
