Artist statement
Representation of an isolated green space in shimmering greenery, questioning the invisibility of certain territories. Brilliant shades, intense shades of green, Olivia Babel creates a space made up of different levels, masses and volumes. A natural and self-sufficient space is presented.
Cartography, textiles, embroidery... Olivia Babel develops a universe imbued with unexpected associations, so as to create impactful, unique works that catch the eye.
The work is embroidered entirely by hand with lockstitch techniques, on manually discolored velvet fabrics. We have the combination of corduroy, shiny yarns, cotton yarns under plexiglass.
