Artist Statement
Pandora conceives her paintings as internal landscapes, expressions of and meditations on the natural world in all its vastness. Pandora’s newest series, “Exoplanets,” emerges from her work as the Leverhulme Trust Artist in Residency in the Astrophysics Department at Exeter University. While there, she worked closely with Professor Isabelle Baraffe and her colleagues who conduct pioneering research on life beyond our solar system. Pandora’s works are informed by interviews within the department and her longstanding painting practice, which strives to capture the visceral essence of her subjects by discarding detail.
“My paintings are internal landscapes. They aim to create an immersive space for
quiet meditation in our harried lives.”
