Artist Statement
Pau Escat is a contemporary artist from Barcelona. He grew up in a creative environment, a family of five generations of jewelers precedes him, it was precisely in this guild, where he trained learning to find a sense of beauty.
He learned to paint in private, traveling through Asia, Africa and America that served as inspiration. He confesses that it took him a long time to develop his own style, but for a reason. "You need a long time to find yourself, develop your language and understand your own voice."
Currently the internationally renowned artist has his studio in the Eixample of Barcelona, but he uses the inspiration provided by the trips he makes around the world.
"With my works I investigate the breadth of the horizon, the line between light, the harmony of an abstract landscape, in short, my particular way of understanding the reality that surrounds me, of understanding concepts such as silence and personal peace"
Inspired by nature, Escat transfers these mental images with indecipherable mysteries to the canvas, his abstract style helps him capture sensations and the magic that many times we have before us and go unnoticed.
His process is composed through a mixture of spontaneity and premeditation, which generates an intriguing complexity in his work.
Escat's work is part of private collections and international collectors.
