Artist Statement

This picture was inspired by the work of the painter and spiritualist, Nicholas Roerich. I had an exhibition in the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York in 1991 and during that time I become familiar with his work. The image, 6,25"x9.5" is made with colored pencil and gold watercolor on sanded paper. The frame, which I made myself, measures 20.25"x23.25"x1.75", and is painted with an Indian red undertone topped with satin black and then lightly sanded to bring out hints of the red. This is a very heavy picture and frame at about 5 lbs.
