Artist Statement
Built a career on surrealist, anatomical / botanical fantasies; beautifully rendered yet sometimes haunting and gruesome, void of irony and absolute with sincerity. His works build meaning primarily by exploring the Unbribable difference between animal and people. Provocative imagery of humans and animals suggests an investigation of linguistics, the natural sciences and human sociology, all with respect to the parallel universe of other species. I use a seemingly detached abstraction as a counterpoint to my styled fabrications of sexual desire. An undercurrent of eroticism viewed with the steady detachment can be, in my words: Morphing forms-human animal and otherwise-I employ psychological riddles, challenging the viewer to decide where life begins or ends.
I wash the paper with technical virtuosity. These watercolours then turn into the image of nature engaged in a surrealistic dance of survival. Challenging complex and magically real, the works acknowledge life's gentleness and address aggressiveness, while creating existence may use what they perceive as nature’s impeccable logic to argue for the inexistence of the omnipotent creator. I paradoxically suggest that the answer to the big question of heaven and earth do not offer come in nice need packages. The images scarred by traces of memory and reveal little human psychology.
