Muladhara is the Root Chakra. The Affirmation is "I am". Our roots are the foundation upon which we base our life - our FAMILY is multiple, not singulair. We are part of a nuclear and extended family, a family of friends, neighbors and a community. Each of these helps us to continually evolve and solidify our foundation.
This artwork comes framed in a thin black floating frame which adds approximately 1.5cm to the height and width of the painting.

Based in: Singapore
I am a global artist. My art career has been developed and grown across cultures. Born in India, raised in the US, I moved to Japan in 2012 and retired from my first career in healthcare. I have trained extensively across Oil, Sumi-E, and Acrylic for 7 years between the Tokyo Campus of Temple’s Tyler School of Art and Professional/Studio workshops. Having moved to Singapore in 2019, I continue to train at the LaSalle College of the Arts and take advantage of global online workshops to continue my professional development.
My work is inspired by a deep desire to find calm and spiritual peace in the world. Having spent many years in the healthcare field, I have witnessed the close connection between emotional and physical well-being. We cultivate that state of well-being by surrounding ourselves with and sharing positive energy. My intention is to create images that provide an escape from the hectic pace of life and offer a calming meditative experience.
In addition to my Indian heritage which greatly influences my use of color, I am also influenced by the Japanese concept of Ma (Maah), which is defined as a pause in time or an interval of space. As a result, my artwork renders a purposeful use of space. This gives structure to the composition and allows for a harmonious relationship between form and non-form, or positive and negative space. The “free” space allows for a reflective, in-depth and emotional interpretation of the painting in its entirety.
I apply this concept in an unconventional manner using a variety of media and materials, such as Oil, Nihonga, Acrylic, Gold/Silver Leaf, paper and other textural compounds.
My work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Singapore and Japan, including the ION Art Orchard Gallery, the Ueno No Mori Art Museum (Royal Art Museum) in Japan, the National Art Gallery in Tokyo, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno, the Intercontinental Hotel in Osaka and the ANA Crowne Plaza hotel in Kobe.
My paintings are in private collections in Japan, the USA, India and Australia. Paintings have also been publicly displayed in the corporate offices of MetLife Japan, Blue Bay Consulting in Tokyo, and San Mina Corp. in the Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan.
