Artist Statement
“And it was all Red”
The 2nd of series.Fusing the macabre with tradition, this artwork explores the raw nakedness of being human; the shades of flesh red and whites that command attention and yet relax within the archaic majesty of the batik fabric that constrains the subject within its boundaries.

Artist Profile
Born: 1964
Hometown: Singapore
Based in: Singapore
As a contemporary artist based in Singapore, Rashid renders his own visual and conceptual interpretations gleaned from observations of everyday life and modern culture.
Taking inspiration from Michelangelo, Carravagio, Pablo Picasso and Jeff Koons, Rashid absorbs everything that surrounds him. The nature of his work varies from time to time and is mostly rendered on canvas, paper and fabric.
Rashid works from his studio at home, often at odd hours while trying to capture the rush of blood to his head. To him, painting is like a dream, something that can be imagined in front of you. He believes that every house should have an art piece, because every house contains a dream.
